Kitchen Distributors, Inc. was established by P.G. Hartman and Esther Hartman in May, 1953. Located originally on 6th Avenue in Denver, Kitchen Distributors, Inc. began as a wholesale distributor of Geneva steel cabinetry to the Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming area. Several years later, KDI moved to a larger facility on 15th street to accommodate additional Geneva cabinets, as well as Kemper wood cabinets. Mostly focused on supplying their dealer network and a few local commercial projects, KDI thrived for many years. Later, with the growing interest in color and wood cabinetry, it became impractical to stock cabinetry to fit everyone's needs. As KDI started to turn toward residential custom cabinetry, our location became less than ideal for the type of clientele we were serving and in 1959, we renovated an old mattress factory at 1235 S. Broadway to serve as our new showroom. P.G. Hartman died unexpectedly from a massive heart attack in May 1974. His death was a tremendous loss, but the company continued under the direction of Esther Hartman along with the help of two of her children, Shirley and Tom. In 1981, we realized additional showroom space would be necessary to display the broad product selection now offered by KDI. Another move was made to our current showroom on Littleton Blvd. to accommodate new displays and expanding tastes of our clientele. With over 7600 square feet of showroom space, and over 20 full size displays on 2 floors, our showroom is easily the finest in Colorado. Recently, we have added 2 new DBS displays to our showroom highlighting their Cornerstone product and a hand carved raised panel door featuring a La Cornue French range. Additionally, we are currently installing another Burled Walnut and Painted Green DBS kitchen highlighting Sub Zero's new full size Wine Storage unit and several Viking appliances. Concurrently, we have ordered a new Studio Becker display featuring their finest Maple door and cabinet. Finally, we are currently designing our new bulthaup showroom to be located in the Golden Triangle. Please make an appointment with one of our Designers to receive a intimate tour of our products.
