Kitchen by Bill Livingston: Before and After

Posted on July 19, 2011 by jlamberski

Every kitchen space is different, and every design trend may not suite every kitchen. A well-designed kitchen is timeless, and the key is thoughtful and strategic use of space.  With the angled refrigeration system and the corner sink, the original layout of this kitchen does not use space efficiently. The result is a lack of storage and a lack of features that accommodate the everyday cook and the modern family. See KD designer Bill Livingston’s innovative transformation of this kitchen into a more spacious, functional and aesthetically sound space with these before and after photos.

As you can see, Bill Livingston redesigned this kitchen to not only look beautiful but provide high functionality and practicality. The new sink location allows for a deeper and bigger sink that even has a city view. The largest wall was used to install a 48″ range with two ovens, six gas burners, and a griddle with better ventilation. The cabinetry that wraps around all the way next to the hood allows for accessible storage of ingredients needed while cooking. The refrigerator and freezer unit was designed to resemble a large armoire which looks great while providing all the storage a family could need. The new layout leaves room for an expansive island that has a second sink and ample multi-purpose counter space.
