Set within an Art Deco International–style residence defined by sweeping curves, terrazzo floors, and a restrained material palette, this project reflects a thoughtful dialogue between historic architecture and modernist function. The home’s sculptural forms provided an ideal framework for a Bauhaus-inspired bulthaup kitchen—where precision, utility, and beauty coexist seamlessly.
At the heart of the design, 1 cm stainless steel countertops establish a strong architectural gesture, echoing the stainless steel-clad patio ceiling beyond and visually extending the kitchen outward. This continuity reinforces the relationship between interior and exterior, while a fully integrated ceiling hood preserves open sightlines and allows the architecture to remain uninterrupted.
Grey anodized aluminum cabinetry introduces a quiet, enduring sophistication—its subtle matte finish providing a refined counterpoint to the home’s expressive geometry. Carefully composed details, including a wall-mounted Vola faucet and precision Gaggenau appliances, bring together performance and sculptural clarity in equal measure.
Throughout the project, thoughtful moments of customization respond directly to the home’s unique character. Roll-up wall cabinets echo the residence’s radius architecture, while wall-hanging pocket doors reveal a concealed bar crafted to serve the adjacent dining space—supporting effortless entertaining while maintaining the visual calm of the surrounding architecture.
Beyond the kitchen, the design embraces a broader modernist sensibility. A dramatic dining vignette, framed by terrazzo underfoot and bold architectural lines, introduces warmth and contrast through rich textiles, sculptural seating, and curated objects. Together, these elements create a layered expression of Art Deco glamour and modern restraint.
The result is a kitchen that feels wholly integrated with the architecture—timeless yet progressive, minimal yet richly detailed. A true reflection of bulthaup’s belief that the kitchen is not simply a place to cook, but an essential part of how one lives.
